Maggie and Grace
My name is Maggie Bass. I am 14 years old. I bought my first ever Registered heifer at the KJLA Futurity Sale. Meet Grace! Grace is a Shorthorn Plus from Roux Shorthorns, in Moundridge. In December, I showed at Beef Expo in Hutchinson. It was the first time I showed outside my county. We didn't do very well, but I learned a lot and I had fun! Up until recently, we have only had commercial cattle, and I am very excited to have a Shorthorn.

Sheldon and Andrew
My name is Sheldon Weber and my brother, Andrew and I purchased two Shorthorn steers this year at the KJLS club calf sale. We live in Silver Lake. This is our third year attending the sale. The first year, we just watched the sale. The second year I had a goal to purchase a heifer and I purchased a Shorthorn Plus heifer from Mary Werth. Her name is Aggie and she was a lot of fun to show. I showed her at KJLS in 2019 and won the futurity class. I used my winnings to purchase my Shorthorn steer for the upcoming year. One nice thing about buying a calf from the sale is that they have already been to a show. Andrew and I are looking forward to giving updates on our projects throughout the year.
